freosanETA: No matter HOW hard I try, Kaos is not a bloody Gemini. Therefore, I'm switching things up again. Meet Kaos Angel Virgo, for one. ::headdesk::
THE ANGELS are supernaturally powered people whose destiny is to protect the Earth. This is not strictly true, but it will do for now. They are human. They found out a very long time ago how to keep their memories with them when they reincarnated. As a result, they have a great deal more power than normal humans. They also have a great deal more energy stored.
The magic system in this universe works as such: each time one is reincarnated-with-memory, one’s aura gets more powerful. The more powerful the aura, the more powerful the magic. Angels all specialise in a particular area of magic; they are also connected to the zodiac sign they represent. This is why the zodiac signs are associated with certain traits and with certain elements.
Angels are also capable of dying without keeping their memories and being reincarnated more or less as normal humans (or animals. Whichever). When they do this, all the energy they’ve collected is released.
THE EARTH is the planet around which we centre our story. It is more or less oblivious to the fact that it is in danger. It is also where all angels are originally from.
MIYA’s full title is Lioness Angel Leo. Because she finds this ridiculous, she goes by her human name. She is the oldest Angel and as such the most powerful – it has been postulated, mostly by Leoran, that if she doesn’t take her memories with her when she dies she will cause this section of the galaxy to sink into a black hole. She specializes in fire magic and her weakness is her pride. Her familiar is a lion called Daniel.
BIANCA’s full title is Fury Angel Aries. She is Miya’s younger sister and very annoyed by the fact that Miya is the sole and somewhat arbitrary ruler of the angels. Because of this she has rebelled against the rest of the angels and is doing her level best to overthrow the power structure. Miya does not appreciate this. The rest of the angels, being rather tradition-bound, also do not appreciate this. Her familiar is a raven called Bran.
KAOS’s full title is Kaos Angel Virgo. She is small, strong, and almost but not quite entirely unlike human. Her magic is based on, essentially, the butterfly effect, hence the name. She takes a lot of power from the unpredictable changes of burning stars, human emotions, and destruction or explosions. Her weakness is stability and her unquestioning obedience to authority. Her familiar is a fox called Shifre.
LEORAN’s full title is Infinity Angel Capricorn. He grew up on Earth and as such is still utterly fascinated by his new powers. His magic tends to be time magic, but he can also use the kind of magic traditionally associated with wizards – if he knows a true name, has a piece of hair, or has a birthsign, and he gets the time to prepare, he can do almost anything. His weakness is his slowness and his adherence to tradition. His familiar is a phoenix called Ildri.
WILD’s full title is Wild Angel Aquarius. She got reincarnated as a wolf this time ‘round, then turned into human form when the other angels found her; she’s still trying very hard to seem human. Her magic is wind magic; her weakness is her insecurity. Her familiar is a rabbit called Romulus.
MICHI's full title is Cosmos Angel Libra. His magic is based on order. His weakness is his trusting nature. His familiar is a cat called Valentine.
ALEX’s full title is Tempest Angel Gemini. His magic is technomancy. His familiar is a lion tamarin called Amira.
AKASHA’s full title is Spirit Angel Cancer. Her magic is healing magic. Her weakness is her protective nature. Her familiar is a deer called Herne.
KAREN’s full title is Magic Angel Scorpio. Her magic is based on water. Her familiar is a wolf called Nilima.
